06 Jan Join The Conversation [Social Media Tip]
Last week I told you to use your brand voice, create a tone and “personality” for your brand. This week I want to let you know that you should use that voice and join the conversation. You’ve gotten to know your audience and you have a good idea of what they react to. Now you can get in the trenches and actually join the social media conversations happening in your industry and amongst your target audiences to expand your reach, and create even deeper connections, which all contribute to brand loyalty and eventually to reach your goals.
My approach to social media marketing is about creating organic engagement and relationships with your audience, while placing you as (excuse my cliché) an industry leader. You can use all the data, knowledge, you’re voice and point of view and put it all to good use.
If you want to expand you reach within your industry or in more of a B2B setting, get into some LinkedIn groups and share content from your company or brand’s Linkedin company page or website (this requires you to be the “face” – which of course is between you and your company. An alternative? Encourage employees or one designated employee to share the content within relevant groups). To reach more of your target audience on a consumer level get involved, comment on photos, thank people, comment on other blogs – just get talking!
Of course this is a more “guerilla” and time consuming approach, but these days customers are expecting more humanized connections with the brands they love. The results you gain when you join the social media conversations that relate to your brand is the really engaged, organic audience you will begin to acquire.
I guess that saying’s true: nothing worthwhile come easy.
