Try Carousel Link Posts on Facebook [Social Media Tip]

DhariLo Social Media Marketing Tip 72 - Try Facebook Carousel Link Posts

Facebook is always changing and updating features. This week I stumbled upon carousel link posts. Looks like the popular multi – image carousel format isn’t just for ads anymore! Read on and I’ll walk you through how to post your links with multiple images.

Things to keep in mind before planning you Facebook carousel link post:

  • You can add up to 5 photos with your link
  • Facebook will automatically upload your general site image before any other image. This is removable – see post below
  • Facebook will pull your page’s profile image with “see more at [website]” at the end. This is not removable. – see post below
  • All photos will go to the same link
  • If you plan to boost your carousel link post keep the 20% text to image rule for all Facebook ad images

Let’s Get Posting:

Type in your caption and enter your link. Facebook will upload the link as you’re used to seeing it. But underneath you’ll see image boxes.

Clicking the blank box plus sign will allow you to add up to 5 photos for your link. Click the box – dragging your images in won’t work here.

After adding an image, you’ll notice that Facebook adds what I’m calling an “intro” link image as well as a final link image at the end consisting of your page’s profile image accompanied by “See more at [website]”. You can get rid of that “intro” link image, but the “see more” image and link cannot be changed.

Add up to 5 photos to your link. Each image will click through to the same link.

See images you don’t like? Click on the ones you don’t like so they are no longer highlighted in blue. You can also click the little “x” in the top right of the image as you scroll through your post preview using the left and right arrows.

I love that Facebook has brought carousel link posts to fan pages without having to advertise. This format allows for some real creativity, more opportunities to showcase various products all while driving traffic with your link. I can’t wait to see how brands embrace this new post format.

I don’ understand what you mean by “You can get rid of that “intro” link” I see the see more link, but what or where is the Intro Link?

The “intro link image” is that first one the link generates. (in my images it’s the DLSM inside the white outline)
